Isn’t it ironic that many teenagers, though fluent in multiple computer languages, are not expected to understand or care about things like personal finance, politics, or our faith? We’re not even expected to be capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation with an adult.
Isn’t it something wrong when girls are constantly judged on their physical appearance and pressed to become more and more sexually provocative, yet are so rarely expected to develop qualities of character and intellect beneath the surface?

Our first response to persecution should be gratitude. That’s right. We should rejoice! God has allowed is to join some pretty good company-including Jesus Himself, the apostles, and the prophets. If we are being persecuted because we are standing up for what is right and godly, we can consider ourselves blessed.

Doing Hard Things

I’ve finally been able to get a full-time job, minimum wage, but still a job. A miracle I’ve been praying for since the beginning of the year, in October it finally happens. Thank you Lord for this opportunity to grow and move up in my life. I know how many people are out of work and desperate to do anything to be able to support themselves and their families. I work at an office, at the front desk answering phone calls, scheduling appointments and doing little errands to make the office run smoother. I have a lot of free time on my hands during the day. I’ve been trying to occupy myself, by doing things that would help me grow, as a person, intellectually, and socially. What I’ve been doing is bringing a book to work, a christian book called “Start Here, Doing Hard Things Right Where You Are” by Alex and Brett Harris. It’s an amazing book about breaking the myth that the teenage years are just about goofing off and having fun [a rebelution]. As teenagers we are able to accomplish much more than what society expects from us, by being responsible , making a difference and “doing hard things.” There are stories in the book of teenagers who went out of their way, past their comfort zones, to change someone’s life and sometimes even an entire community, this are truly inspirational stories of real-life events. This teens overcame the misconception of what society tells us is a adolescent, not for their own vanity and pride but, for God and his plan in their lives.

I haven’t finished the book yet but now with this free time at the office, I question, what is the “hard thing” big or small that God wants me to do in my life, at work? But, I know one thing, before I try to change the world I must change myself. I need to be humble, better at managing my time, then I can start. I hope God was able to inspire you through me to also “do hard things.” One thing to keep in mind, I’m a tool God is using, whomever is inspired all credit must be given to God, not me. It was never me, it was alway the holy spirit. Stay Strong.
